Associate Lu Hoang Duc has more than six years of experience in banking and finance, corporate law and capital markets. He focuses on providing legal advice on the operations, product development and risk management of credit institutions, while also assisting businesses in addressing legal issues arising in the course of their operations and complying with increasingly complex legal requirements.
Before joining HM&P, Mr. Duc served as a legal specialist at Asia Commercial Joint Stock Bank (ACB), where he was directly involved in providing legal advice, conducting legal reviews, and coordinating the development of products, internal regulations, policies and procedures. His experience working within the banking sector has given him practical insight into financial product development, internal control mechanisms, compliance requirements and risk management in the operations of credit institutions.
In addition to his banking and finance expertise, Mr. Duc has experience participating in digitalisation and technology implementation projects in the banking and corporate sectors. He advises on legal issues arising from the implementation of products, technological solutions and digital transformation initiatives, with a focus on ensuring compliance with the applicable legal framework and managing risks relating to information technology, operations and new business models. This background enables him to approach legal issues at the intersection of law, technology and business operations in the context of a rapidly transforming financial sector.
Mr. Duc also has a particular interest in researching legal issues arising from M&A transactions in the banking sector. He co-authored with Managing Partner Nguyen Van Phuc an article analysing limitations in labour law in connection with mergers and acquisitions of commercial banks, focusing on workforce restructuring, the responsibilities of the parties and employee protection mechanisms during the merger process.
With an academic background in Economic Law and practical experience in the banking and finance sector, Mr. Duc advises clients on the operations of businesses and credit institutions, particularly on matters requiring a combination of legal expertise, operational understanding and risk management perspectives. He was also awarded the ABG Open 8 Young Leadership Scholarship by the ABG Leadership Institute.
